Political Stuff
Cindy Sheehan (the woman camped at George W. Bush's ranch) speaks for herself:
"This is George Bush's accountability moment. That's why I'm here. The mainstream media aren't holding him accountable. Neither is Congress. So I'm not leaving Crawford until he's held accountable. It's ironic, given the attacks leveled at me recently, how some in the media are so quick to scrutinize -- and distort -- the words and actions of a grieving mother but not the words and actions of the president of the United States."
Strong stuff.
In an effort to not make my site a political one- because, although I am very much political, I do not like to outright "choose sides" online when people RIGHT NOW are dying- I don't want to add my opinion to the events of the world. But someone mentioned something to me the other day and I found it very interesting:
"I am not a supporter of Bush, but the US HAD to vote him in for the second term. Kerry, if he had won, would have pulled (the troops) out immediately. This would have meant death for any US supporters still in Iraq (foreign and Iraqis) and everything would have gone back to the way it was before. It would have made the lives already sacrificed a waste. People realised this and probably decided, since we started it we should finish it."
Allow the President to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so, whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such a purpose -- and you allow him to make war at pleasure. - Abraham Lincoln

I'm always about going to haunted places. What- there's a ghost in that house? Let's go!
That's me.
But it's a shame that when I finally get to go to a bo-na-fide haunted place (the Hotel Coronado in San Diego) the only pictures we take is with me in a huge chair.
Shame.

We had- yet again- another barbeque! Yay! Funny stuff... Urban (the man holding the vodka in the wheelchair) isn't really wheelchair bound but convinced Shauna (the woman in the middle with the pink shirt) that he was. It was therefore a pretty funny thing to see Shauna's face when Urban, at the end of the party, walks up to her and sits beside her on the couch.

Poor Peter. His bathroom's screen window isn't dark enough, so when nighttime comes around we at the filmmaker house can see all of God's gifts spread in front of us like dinner.
But, with the smell coming from there, who would want to see it anyway?

Yes my friends... you are witnessing the world wide website premiere (first time on my site, at least) of the beautiful, multi-talented, destined for stardom baby Taylor Alexandria Byrd.
Isn't she so cute!!!
Ah Texas. She was the reason why I came and how grand a choice that was. Below you will see the exhibits of my travels, from old friends, old schools, to new beginnings (happy 10th CUCC!!!). So have fun and enjoy the view (and excuse the spelling... I'm trying to get this done as quick as possible so I can eat my Daddy's barbeque).
Oh- and Hi Coach Atlas! Hi Patricia! Hi everyone at CUCC! Hi Dominic! and, of course-
HI TAYLOR!!!!

Me and my gorgeous Keianna. She is so big now! She can fit into my clothes and shoes! What is going on? Have I been away that long?

Say Hi to Dominic! This is his first time on my website as well... pretty cool. Sunday after I came home Dominic gave me a call and asked if I wanted to go play pool. I said of course, but then I (stupid) forgot my ID so we went bowling instead and had lots of fun anyway.

FYI this ball curved into a strike. Dominic beat me big time... he won 2 games and I only beat him once.

BK- one of the greatest Daddy's of all time! He took off from his busy coaching schedule to visit his wife and baby during lunch.

Bran came down to visit and we had ourselves a tour of our old memories by visiting our Alma Matter (Morton Elementary , to be percise).
This is us posing beside the map of the US on the courtyard cement (painted during our term!). The school was totally different, but some how still the same. Really awesome.

While Brandi was down we went to the mall with Hazel and Taylor, low and behold, we saw our old friend (from 10 years ago) Patricia! Weird, huh? Anywhoo... Patricia invited us to her black belt test (she had to break some boards) and I was able to go.
That's a pic of Prish kicking butt!

This is Keianna in her dress for the Cosmopolitan United Church of Christ's 10th Anniversary. We went to a formal dinner in the grand ballroom of the Richardson Hotel on friday and oh was it fun! Randy put it all together (good job Randy!) and the choir performed beautifully and there was a documentary of the CUCC and how it got started (AMAZING job by Eddie F!).
It was impressive, really impressive. Pastor Ding got a surprise plaque and he was so sweet during his thank you speech- I almost cried. And Mike K. led everybody in a really fun auction to help raise money for the building fund (I just heard they raised $5,000! Congrats guys!).
Awesomeness. Take a look for yourself:

Now among all this happy news comes sad news. My poor kitty Eclipse (14 years old this year) was incredibly sick the whole week of my vacation. She wouldn't eat or drink anything. Me and Mommy took her to the vet and the doctor said that she was very close to having liver failure because she had almost starved. :(
Poor Eclipse, I'm sorry. We have to force feed her for a while (at least Mommy does, since I'm back in LA now), and it's extremely difficult for her to walk.

The night before I left Daddy and Mommy cooked a feast good enough for a king! I'm so blessed to have the parents I have... not many would put up with the stuff I do and I thank God that they do. Love ya Mommy & Daddy!

And that, my friends, is the complete grab & go version of my happenings in the beautiful state of Texas. You've been such a good audience- here: have some filipino ice cream!

Gorgeous isn't she? She's the widow that lives in our backyard. Egg sack and everything. I noticed her when I was pulling my car in and accidentally bumped (just a tap!) the black rod that she built her nest in. Geez... if we thought we had legends living in our house before...
Anywhoo, I was so excited that I was stupid enough to tell Miska, Pete, and Darryl. Dummy! Of course- being the big strapping men that they are- they all freaked out and exclamations of "Burn the Beast!" and "Kill the Killer!" followed. Poor girl. I tried to convince them to let me catch her (so that when they weren't looking I'd dump her somewhere else) but to my dismay when I tried I was totally unsuccessful. The steadfast mommy just wouldn't leave her nest.
So they lit a rolled up newspaper and stuck it in the hole.
*Sigh*
OF COURSE, if you deal with physics or the rules of ANYTHING, you would know that sticking a wad of burning paper in a metal pipe accomplishes nothing. Nada. Smoke, but no fireworks.
Needless to say now we have a ratty looking pipe, a burnt up bunch of Black Widow eggs, and a big heap of pissed off Black Widow bent on killing us once she wipes off her melted web.
Anywho: Booklist! (Hope you read the first one Angel):

1.BLINDNESS Jose Saramago- a whole city is taken over by an epidemic of blindness except for one woman who has to watch the whole cookie crumble.
2.LULLABY Chuck Palahniuk- same dude who wrote Fight Club. Cool idea, interesting characters, lackluster mid-ending, satisfying all around.

3.NAKED LUNCH William S. Burroughs- written while he was high and therefore doesn't remember writing it. TRIPPY! At first I was appalled by it all, but my growing interest (like the crack he was addicted to) was continually fed by his unyielding belief in the world he lived in.
NEWS:
-Going to Texas tomorrow to say hi to Taylor! Geez... I feel like it's been years. How old.
-Added a new link! Dunno if you guys know her, but I was in the newspaper staff with her in High School: Allegra Davis. Read her, she's interesting.
-4th week and going strong! My tae-bo "lifestyle" (because diet is such an ugly word) is really showing with the clothes I put on!
-Depression sets in at the filmmaker house. I'll tell ya later.
